An existing load bearing wall was required to be removed to create the open plan feel. This structural alteration required new structural steel work to be installed to transfer the load from an existing column bearing on the wall, into a new steel frame.
An RMD Megashor structure was designed to support the 1500kN axial load through the existing column, with a bespoke steel work connection to the existing column.
The solution was successfully delivered on time and provided enough space for all demolition works and enough space to install the new steel frame.
